Google's Next Big Step Into Real Estate Listings

Published December 01, 2009

If your interested in the future of real estate Google should be all over your radar. We posted back in July how Google ramped up its real estate map search which put listings in front of millions of Google users who probably had no idea the search giant has been aggregating real estate listings for years. While NAR has its own plans to launch a national property database Google has stolen their thunder. Google has been quietly rolling out "place pages" which they officially announced on the Google Australia blog.

Search engine land reported that Google has taken real estate map searching one step further to include a unique page for every listing that includes photos, inspection times, videos, a map with Street View preview, property details, directions, public transit information and more. It's a listing page with source information included. Here's an example.

I wonder if real estate agents and owners will be able to claim property listings similar to Trulia or Zillow? Google is in the business of being a resource and they are definitely creating a new market for themselves which they can then service. There's definitely a lot of questions here but this looks like a tool you will want to capitalize on for your internet marketing plan.
